SMCC Volleyball Defeats Bucyrus
The St. Mary Central Catholic Varsity Volleyball Team earned a 3–1 road victory over Bucyrus on Saturday in non-conference action. Freshman Reid Didion powered the Panther attack with 18 kills and 29 digs, while Evelyn Shafrath added 6 kills and hit a team-high .154. Junior Adrianna Gill also contributed 6 kills. At the net, senior Allison Lill recorded 2 blocks and chipped in 4 kills, and sophomore Madi Perkins added a block. Running the offense, freshman setter Finley Karr dished out 33 assists to go along with 14 digs. Defensively, junior Ella Brownell anchored the back row with a match-high 38 digs, while sophomore Khloe West tallied 16 digs.
The Panthers improve their season record with another strong all-around performance and will look to carry the momentum into their next match.
Panthers Earn First Conference Victory in Three Seasons with Thrilling Five-Set Win
The St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers secured a hard-fought victory Tuesday night, defeating Hopewell-Loudon on the road in a five-set thriller. SMCC came out strong, taking the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22 before Hopewell-Loudon rallied to claim the next two, 27-25 and 25-19. With the match on the line, the Panthers dug deep and sealed the win with a 15-13 triumph in the decisive fifth set.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 4-12 on the season and, most importantly, notch their first conference victory in three seasons.
