Program History
The SMCC Cheerleading program has a long tradition of fostering school spirit and developing talented athletes. Cheerleaders perform at football and basketball games, bringing energy and excitement to Panther athletics while supporting their teams on and off the field. Over the years, many SMCC cheerleaders have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, representing schools such as the University of Dayton, Florida Gulf Coast University, Xavier University, Heidelberg University, Tiffin University, and many more. The program has been shaped by dedicated leaders, including current head coach Tami (Kersker) Maschari, a 1993 SMCC graduate and former cheerleader with over 20 years of coaching experience in tumbling and competitive cheer. Maschari, along with her talented teams, has helped maintain SMCC’s strong tradition of cheer excellence, combining skill, teamwork, and school pride to energize fans and inspire future generations of Panther cheerleaders.
