Sandusky Central Catholic School, is seeking a Head of School to oversee and direct our Catholic college
preparatory school (pre-K through grade 12), which is located in Sandusky, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie.
The ideal candidate is an innovative and dynamic individual, committed to and practicing the Catholic faith,
with a proven record of working well with faculty, staff, administrators, volunteers, clergy and donors to ensure
and provide the highest quality formation for our students: challenging the mind, enriching the spirit, and
strengthening the body. A superior understanding of what makes Catholic education unique and vital for the
good of the community is a must.
The Head of School is responsible for supervising, mentoring and developing a leadership team who will
ensure that SCCS achieves its goal of providing the highest quality academic and extracurricular programs.
Advanced knowledge of parochial school administration, along with policy and curriculum development, as
well as success in the area of institutional advancement/development will be necessary.
The successful applicant will have shown throughout his/her career the ability to collaborate and develop solid,
trusting relationships among colleagues that inspire greater dedication and commitment to the school’s
mission. Equally as important, the Head of School must be prepared to engage the wider community to
promote the school, and to actively nurture meaningful and lasting relationships with individuals, families and
groups who help provide for the operational and long-term success of the school.
While a Master’s Degree in education or similar field is preferred, Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s
degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching and school leadership that includes
supervising and evaluating others.
Additional requirements include:
• Have or be in the process of obtaining an Ohio Administrative Certificate;
• Ability to obtain an Ohio Department of Education License;
• Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church who upholds the teaching and traditions
of the Catholic Church, as well as possess a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and
promotion of Catholic education;
• Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range
of stakeholders;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate spirit, and the capacity
to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects;
• Proven ability to pursue ministry with energy, drive and a need to produce results;
• Flexibility; self-confidence; and persuasive;
• Superior organizational skills; independence; highly confidential; able to prioritize work, be proactive,
take initiative, resolve complex problems, and strong follow-through;
• Valid driver’s license.
